Switch Your Focus

Do you ever get a worry or negative thought that goes around and around and around in your mind and plagues you day in day out?

Here’s a great tip on how to get relentless thoughts off your mind…Write them out!

It may sound simple and perhaps even a bit tiresome, but if the problem irks you enough, you might just find it worth the effort!

In the first column below, write any worries, troubles, problems or challenges you are currently facing.

Then in the second column, write what you would rather experience instead.

You may also consider if the challenge or ‘problem’ has a gift in it for you.

So often problems are there to teach us something, and when we gain the learning, we are often able to avoid the same problem occuring again.

Remember to make your ‘wish’ the opposite of the ‘worry’ and don’t even mention the worry in your wish. ie. If your worry is about being ‘sick’ or ‘broke’’, then the wish needs to be about being ‘healthy’ or ‘abundant’…. see? no mention of the problem!

Mind Your Language

What are you really saying?

Did you know that when most people think they are saying something positive they are often in fact sending negative messages to the subconscious mind and this is hindering their chances of achieving and succeeding?

Back in my nursing days I worked for a time in pathology – collecting blood and other specimens and I noticed that some parents would bring their children in for a blood test and say something along the lines of: ‘Don’t worry, this won’t hurt.”

For a number of reasons, this sort of talk was somewhat less than helpful!

For one thing, if the child does feel a sting, or pain with the blood test, the parent loses credibility.

The second aspect of this is that the subconscious mind doesn’t acknowledge the negators; ‘Don’t, not, can’t, won’t’ etc… So the unassuming child in the above scenario all of a sudden begins to ‘worry’ about being ‘hurt’.

Reframe it…

a-for-attitude-resources-negative-languageSo, now to demonstrate how to reframe a negative, recurring thought and help a child to focus on a positive affirmation, let’s use the example of a child who says;

“I don’t want to go to school because of bullies.”

Rather than say “I will go to school and ignore the bullies”, which is not really sustainable and is in fact reminding the child of the bullies… it is preferable to consider a more empowering way of dealing with the situation.

a-for-attitude-resources-positive-languageHelp the child to think of alternative scenarios that could happen at school, such as; They find a friendly person to sit with in class and play with in the yard. So a positive affirmation in this case could be; “I look forward to playing with ‘x’ at school”.

See, no mention of bullies, and the more this affirmation is repeated, the more the mindset is strengthened. The child will stand taller, look more empowered and positive and less like a victim when they focus on positive, happy thoughts.

You’re So Attractive

The more you think about something happening, the more likely it is to happen…negative or positive.

a-for-attitude-negative-thoughts Losers think and worry more about losing.

Champions and winners think more about…winning!

Now, imagine for a moment that you are a magnet.

a-for-attitude-laws-of-attractionAnd whatever you think about, most often, you bring, or attract, towards yourself.

What would you choose to think about most often?
War… or peace? Sick… or healthy?
Sad… or happy? Poor… or wealthy?

Did you know that there is a powerful force in the universe, called the Law of Attraction, that really does make us just like magnets?

Just as the earth pulls things towards it by the Law of Gravity, you and I pull things towards us, by the Law of Attraction.

Reaching Your Goals
